The Model United Nations Conference on Environment is unique and differs from normal MUNs. Our aim is it to make this conference more realistic and more impactful than any other events before.
Offering not only the simulation of committees and workshops by UN staff, climate experts and practitioners but also a simulation of a Conference of the Parties of the Carpathian Convention done by the United Nations Environment Programme itself. This will happen during the first day. During the next days it is upon the delegates to discuss, negotiate and write a resolution for efficiently protecting unique landscapes. To make the resolution more realistic the Framework Convention on the Protection and Sustainable Development of the Carpathians and the International Draft Covenant on Environment and Development of the IUCN will be examined by the participants in advance and partly included in the resolution. The committee to be simulated by the participants is the Conference of the Parties of United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, also known as COP 1 to the last COP 21 in Paris.
Moreover, the participants can choose between the role of either a diplomat or an expert representing a country of their own choice. Participants will be able to choose from all 196 countries represented at the COP. Please note that roles and countries will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
The plenary will be simultaneously translated into Russian, French, Spanish, English and German. In addition some Eastern European delegates can speak in their mother tongue which will be translated in the five languages above.
